British PM's rating drops significantly amid unrest
The approval rating of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer dropped by 26 percentage points since his Labour Party victory in the parliamentary elections on July 4.
Starmer's current approval rating stands at -7%, a significant decline from +19% in the first poll conducted after the elections, Caliber.Az reports, citing a survey conducted by the analytical agency Opinium.
This decrease in approval comes amid anti-migrant riots across the country, which erupted following a massacre in Southport, England, on July 29, perpetrated by 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana.
Meanwhile, the approval rating of former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who continues to lead the Conservative Party temporarily, is at -30%, the agency notes.
The Opinium survey was conducted from August 14-16 and included approximately 2,000 respondents.
In the recent elections, the Labour Party secured 412 seats in the 650-seat House of Commons, while the Conservative Party, which had been in power since 2010, won only 121 seats.
