Bronze Age metallurgical complex discovered in Georgia PHOTOS

Archaeologists have discovered a metallurgical complex dating back around 3,000 years in the village of Dogurashi, located in the Lechkhumi municipality of Georgia.

The discovery was made by archaeologists from the National Museum of Georgia in cooperation with international researchers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

According to Georgia’s Ministry of Culture, the metal smelting complex dates back to the 13th–9th centuries BC and is the largest known Bronze Age metallurgical workshop discovered in the territory of ancient Colchis.

The ministry noted that the find confirms that during the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages, Lechkhumi was one of the key metallurgical centres of mountainous Colchis and played a leading role in copper production in the Caucasus.
