Bus crash in western Türkiye leaves 22 injured
Twenty-two people were injured after a passenger bus travelling from Istanbul to Antalya overturned in Türkiye’s western province of Afyonkarahisar, the IHA news agency reported.
The accident occurred in the Sinanpaşa district on a local road when the Gold Istanbul-operated bus, for reasons that have not yet been established, struck a barrier at an intersection and overturned onto its side.
Local residents alerted authorities to the crash. Gendarmerie units, medical personnel and firefighters were dispatched to the scene shortly afterwards.
All 22 injured people received initial medical treatment at the scene before being taken to nearby hospitals for further care.
The overturned bus blocked the roadway, and emergency crews were carrying out operations to remove the vehicle and reopen the road to traffic.
