Canadian PM calls Türkiye “key NATO ally” as ties deepen
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has described Türkiye as an “incredibly important NATO ally” and a “significant regional power,” highlighting growing cooperation between Ottawa and Ankara.
Speaking to reporters in Toronto, Carney noted his assessment of bilateral and regional relations with Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
“Türkiye is an incredibly important NATO ally,” Carney emphasised. “On a regional scale – and this region stretches from the Balkans to the Middle East, the Caucasus and beyond – Türkiye is one of the most important strategic partners and forces.”
He also noted that the relationship between the two countries is deepening, announcing that he would attend the NATO leaders’ summit in Ankara on July 7–8 and plans to visit Türkiye again later in the year.
