Cargo vessel hit in Gulf, crew injured, US officials say
A cargo vessel in the Persian Gulf was struck by what is believed to be a land-based cruise missile, injuring several crew members, according to two US officials cited by CBS News.
The ship, identified as the CGM San Antonio and owned by a French company, was hit late Tuesday evening local time. The injured crew members are reported to be from the Philippines.
Earlier that same day, the vessel had been operating near Dubai, though its current location remains unclear based on publicly available tracking data.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) centre said it had received a report that a “cargo vessel was struck by an unknown projectile.”
UKMTO added that multiple maritime security incidents have been recorded in the region since Sunday, including a fire on a vessel, a strike, and an attack involving small boats.
