Case against former Armenian MP sent to court over coup incitement charges
The criminal case against former Armenian Member of Parliament Ruben Hakobyan has been formally submitted to court along with the indictment, the Investigative Committee of Armenia confirmed.
Hakobyan faces serious charges of inciting actions aimed at the violent seizure of power, the renunciation of state sovereignty, or the forcible overthrow of the constitutional order, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The investigation alleges that the former lawmaker publicly called for the removal of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government through unconstitutional means.
As part of the preliminary proceedings, Hakobyan was placed in pre-trial detention for a period of two months. The case has now been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for referral to the appropriate judicial authorities.
