Caspian Sea: Turkmenistan rescues crew of Iranian dry cargo vessel
The Iranian dry cargo vessel Rona, which had 14 crew members on board, experienced an emergency situation in the Caspian Sea.
As reported by Caliber.Az, citing Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an SOS signal from the ship was received by Turkmenistan’s coastal services.
According to the ministry’s statement, Turkmenistan’s state agencies responsible for managing and preventing emergency situations immediately undertook all necessary rescue measures in line with international maritime regulations.
The ministry confirmed that all 14 people on the vessel were successfully evacuated. Preliminary information indicates that the rescued crew members are citizens of Iran and India.
The Foreign Ministry added that Turkmen authorities are currently conducting the procedures required under international rules.
