Catholicos of All Armenians departs for Italy, set to meet Pope Leo XIV

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II has embarked on an official visit to Italy.

According to the press office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the visit includes a high-level meeting with Pope Leo XIV, head of the Roman Catholic Church, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The encounter is expected to focus on strengthening ecumenical dialogue, fostering spiritual collaboration, and addressing regional and global challenges faced by Christian communities.

Karekin II’s most recent visit to Italy was to attend the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican, where he participated in the solemn proceedings as a representative of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
