CBS: Iran relocates aircraft to Pakistan, Afghanistan amid US strike fears

12 May 2026 08:34

Iran has started relocating military and civilian aircraft to Pakistan and Afghanistan in an effort to protect them from possible US strikes, CBS News reports, citing sources.

According to the report, Iranian military aircraft were spotted at Pakistan’s Nur Khan Air Base near Islamabad. Sources told CBS News that an RC-130 reconnaissance aircraft — a modified military transport plane — was among the aircraft deployed there.

The broadcaster also reported that Iran’s Mahan Air relocated part of its fleet to Kabul before active hostilities began.

After Iranian airspace was closed, the aircraft remained in Afghanistan, but were later transferred to Herat airport due to clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid denied the presence of Iranian aircraft in Afghanistan in comments to CBS News.
