Celebrities among 25 detained in Türkiye drug probe
Turkish prosecutors have launched a sweeping investigation into the alleged illegal trafficking and use of narcotic drugs, with arrest warrants issued for 25 suspects, including several prominent figures from the country's entertainment industry.
The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the detention of 25 individuals, among them singers İlyas Yalçıntaş and Sıla Gençoğlu, as well as television producer Fatih Aksoy, TRT Haber reports.
Prosecutors said the investigation is supported by evidence indicating reasonable suspicion that the suspects—including actors, businesspeople, and owners of entertainment venues—used narcotic and psychotropic substances, facilitated their consumption, and provided premises where such activities allegedly took place.
The Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command has been instructed to carry out the arrests, conduct searches, and undertake other investigative measures as part of the operation. Following questioning by investigators, the suspects are expected to be transferred to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for further legal proceedings.
