Chechen leader: US–Israel attack on Iran aimed at dividing Islamic world

Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov said that the “treacherous attack” by the United States and Israel on Iran during the holy month of Ramadan was intended to undermine the unity of the Islamic world.

Kadyrov made the remarks in a post on his Telegram channel.

“By carrying out a treacherous attack on Iran during the sacred month of Ramadan, the United States and Israel attempted to drive a wedge into the entire Islamic world. As a result of this attack, Iran’s Supreme Leader and spiritual leader Ali Khamenei, members of his family, 168 high school students from the city of Minab, as well as many civilians were killed. The aggressors deliberately provoked Iran into retaliatory actions that draw third countries into the conflict,” Kadyrov said.

He added that while strikes on American bases might be viewed as an expected military response, attacks on civilian infrastructure and the loss of civilian lives are unacceptable. According to Kadyrov, citizens of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates were among those affected.

“I support the position of my dear elder BROTHER — President of the UAE Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The leadership of the Emirates has never had military claims against its neighbors. This country is considered one of the safest and most stable in the world. However, after strikes on civilian facilities and casualties among the civilian population, the state is forced to protect its citizens and take serious measures, as my dear elder BROTHER has stated,” Kadyrov said.

Kadyrov also emphasized the need for coordinated actions among the countries of the Persian Gulf region. He noted that ambassadors from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and other states had previously approached him with a proposal to hold a large meeting, but that participation from representatives of the UAE was essential to broaden the format and ensure meaningful dialogue.

“The peoples of these countries are connected by many things — neighborhood, religion, history, culture and economics. It is important to preserve the ability for dialogue in order to resist attempts by external forces to sow hostility,” Kadyrov said.
