China, Georgia elevate ties to comprehensive strategic partnership

Georgia and China have upgraded their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, marking a significant step in bilateral ties as the two countries seek to deepen political and economic cooperation.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (June 9) as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili exchanged congratulatory messages to mark the 34th anniversary of diplomatic relations between their countries, according to China's state news agency.

The two leaders jointly declared the elevation of bilateral ties to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, reflecting growing cooperation between Beijing and Tbilisi across a range of sectors.
