China may invest in Georgia’s energy sector, officials discuss cooperation

China may expand its investment presence in Georgia’s energy sector following talks between Georgian officials and representatives of major Chinese energy companies.
Georgia’s Minister of Economy, Mariam Kvrivishvili, held discussions with representatives of China’s ZhenHua Oil Co. Ltd and Geo-Jade Petroleum, according to Georgian media cited by Caliber.Az.
The parties reportedly focused on potential cooperation in the exploration and extraction of oil and gas resources in Georgia.
The Chinese side also expressed interest in investing in the country’s broader energy sector, signalling possible future expansion of economic ties between Tbilisi and Beijing in strategic infrastructure and resource development projects.
