China welcomes Armenia’s joining of UN Friends of Global Governance Group
China has welcomed Armenia’s accession to the recently established “Friends of Global Governance” group at the United Nations, said Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Li Xinwei.
The Chinese diplomat made the remarks on December 17 during an international conference titled “Strengthening China-Armenia Strategic Partnership: A Dialogue on Governance Experience Exchange”, organised by the Confucius Institute at the Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Ambassador Li noted that earlier this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed an initiative on global governance, which was supported by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“We [China and Armenia] are committed to the national development and well-being of our peoples, as well as to peace worldwide. We are partners in peaceful development and global governance. China is ready to share its development experience and opportunities with Armenia,” the ambassador said.
He also recalled that bilateral relations between Yerevan and Beijing were elevated to the level of strategic partnership earlier this year.
