Chinese company to build port hub in Kazakhstan
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has discussed plans for the construction of a multimodal port complex in the Mangystau region during a meeting in Shanghai with Yu Boyan, chairman of the board of Chinese company Guoyou Materials Industry Group Co., Ltd.
The presidential press service said Tokayev expressed support for the initiative to develop the multifunctional Kuryk port, stressing that Kazakhstan aims to become one of Eurasia's key transport and logistics hubs, Caliber.Az reports.
At the initial stage of the project, Guoyou Materials Group plans to establish an annual cargo handling capacity of 15 million tonnes.
The new port hub is expected to strengthen maritime and railway logistics, increase the carrying capacity of the region's transport infrastructure, and expand Kazakhstan's export and transit potential.
