Church in Georgia signals renewed push for protester pardons
12 May 2026 14:46
The Patriarchate of Georgia has said it will once again raise the issue of pardoning participants of protest rallies.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media, this was stated by the head of the Patriarchate's public relations service, Andria Jagmaidze.
“I can confirm that it will take place. At this stage, it is difficult to discuss specific plans or timing, as there are many pressing issues that still need to be addressed. What I can say with certainty is that it will happen,” Jagmaidze said, speaking in the context of the election of the new Catholicos-Patriarch.
