CIS leaders visit Hermitage Museum during summit in St Petersburg PHOTO
On December 22, leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) took a break from their informal summit in St Petersburg to visit the iconic State Hermitage Museum, immersing themselves in Russia’s rich cultural heritage, Akorda reports.
The delegation was given a guided tour of the museum, exploring some of its most notable exhibitions. The leaders viewed displays in the Alexander Hall and the 18th-Century French Art Hall.
Particular attention was given to the museum’s “Golden Treasury,” which houses unique archaeological finds crafted from precious metals, as well as the historic ceremonial interiors of the Picket and Armorial Halls.
The high-profile visitors also toured other exhibitions and galleries, taking in the world-renowned collections for which the Hermitage is famed.
