CIS Secretary-General: Trade between member states continues to grow
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is showing growth in trade turnover among its member countries, and no sanctions can disrupt cooperation within the organisation, said CIS Secretary-General Sergei Lebedev.
He made the remarks following a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), Caliber.Az reports, citing TASS.
“We do not hide that we have certain problems, primarily caused by Western sanctions and some other measures, <…> but we stand very united and support each other,” he stated.
He emphasised that trade between CIS countries is not only maintained but also increasing, alongside GDP growth. “In all CIS countries, we are seeing growth, which shows that no external sanctions or pressure can undermine our cooperation and interaction,” Lebedev concluded.
The CFM session took place in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
The foreign ministers approved 15 documents to be discussed by CIS heads of state at the summit on October 10. They also addressed pressing international and regional issues, including security, sustainable development, and coordination of actions on international platforms.
