Contract soldier dies at military training ground in Armenia

A contract serviceman has died in Armenia at a training ground operated by the Armenian Ministry of Defence, authorities said.

Armenia’s Investigative Committee said a criminal case had been opened following the April 2 incident, Caliber.Az reports.

The investigation has been launched under Part 3 of Article 550 and Part 3 of Article 532 of the Criminal Code.

The former refers to negligent conduct by a military official causing a fatality, whereas the latter involves breaches of regulations on handling weapons, ammunition, equipment, or other hazardous military assets that result in a negligent death.
