Western Azerbaijan Community identifies locations of 740 Muslim cemeteries

The locations of 740 Muslim cemeteries in Western Azerbaijan have been officially recorded, local community leaders have announced.

Aziz Alakbarli, head of the Western Azerbaijan Community, revealed the figures during a joint event with the Caucasus Muslim Board, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Alekberli warned that many of these cemeteries are under threat, with some reportedly replaced by Armenian burial sites. He described the situation as “shocking” and urged that it be brought to the attention of the international community.

The community leader also stressed the need for collaborative initiatives with the Caucasus Muslim Board to protect and preserve these historic sites.
