COP31: Türkiye prepares for 100,000-strong international gathering

18 May 2026 17:34

COP31 is set to become one of the largest global climate gatherings in recent years, with Turkish officials projecting participation from nearly every country and attendance exceeding 100,000 people. The announcement comes as preparations continue for the summit in Antalya and as attention also turns to ongoing international forums such as WUF13 in Azerbaijan.

Türkiye’s Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and COP31 President Murad Kurum told journalists that representatives from 196 countries are expected to attend the summit, with the total number of participants projected to exceed 100,000, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The COP31 president also noted that the WUF13 forum currently taking place in Azerbaijan has been organized at a high level.

Murad Kurum said that these issues will be revisited within the framework of COP31.

“The strategic decisions adopted by the presidents of Türkiye and Azerbaijan continue to advance the development trajectories of both nations individually while simultaneously deepening their bilateral partnership. We remain committed to further enhancing our collective capabilities and expanding the scope of our cooperation,” he emphasized.
