Council of Europe, Armenian Parliament discuss path to peace with Azerbaijan
Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, has met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, focusing on the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and broader issues of regional stability.
The meeting highlighted key priorities in Armenia’s political agenda, including the continuation of democratic reforms and efforts to achieve lasting peace in the South Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset is currently undertaking an official visit to Armenia, engaging in a series of high-level meetings. During his stay, he is scheduled to meet with President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan. In addition to these diplomatic engagements, Berset will deliver a public lecture and interact with students at Yerevan State University.
This visit arrives at a pivotal juncture for the South Caucasus region. Secretary General Berset is expected to reaffirm the Council of Europe’s steadfast support for the prompt conclusion and signing of a comprehensive peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
