Court places former Armenian PM under house arrest
14 June 2025 12:44
The court has placed former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan under house arrest as a preventive measure, rejecting the investigative body’s request for his arrest.
Abrahamyan’s lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, said the court made the decision following a seven-hour hearing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
During the session, the defence presented its arguments, emphasising that Abrahamyan had previously been under a travel ban, which he had not violated, and that he had not interfered with the investigation.
Sargsyan argued that the request for Abrahamyan’s arrest was unlawful.
The former prime minister was detained the day before by Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee.
