Current Armenian government opposes Russia for many years
Leader of the Armenian Reformist Party Vahan Babayan has said that Armenia cannot be represented by people who have opposed Russian President Vladimir Putin in the recent past.
“The current representatives of the Armenian authorities have stood against the Russian Federation, the EU, the CSTO [Collective security Treaty Organisation] for many years,” Armenia’s Verelq News agency reports referring to Babayan’s message on Facebook.
“It is a big question of how our only strategic ally - the Russian Federation can hold talks with such unprincipled individuals and there is no answer to this question yet. Pashinyan’s regime has done everything possible since 2018 to spoil our centuries-old relations. Now it talks about friendship, but we understand that there is no such two-faced friendship and cannot be,” the message said.
Babayan wrote that Armenia should continue negotiations on the Karabakh issue and other relevant issues, but new officials should do this since Armenia is not confident in those who are in power now and they cannot speak on behalf of the Armenians.
“After a new leader comes to power, Armenia and Russia will finally be able to openly, as friends and allies, discuss and resolve all strategic and economic issues,” he wrote.
