Czech Republic stops joint nuclear research with Russia
The Czech Republic completely stopped cooperation with the Russian Joint Institute for Nuclear Research due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Czech Republic’s agreement with the Russian Joint Institute for Nuclear Research ended on December 31, 2022. It was not extended due to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Radio.cz reports.
Maintaining participation in the activities of the OIADD would appear to be an indirect “ignorance of the fact that the Russian Federation commits unprecedented violations of the international legal order and human rights,” the resolution on the termination of cooperation states.
The refusal to continue cooperation was initiated back in April 2022. The Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic decided to terminate the participation of its employees in the activities of the organization.
Later, in the summer of 2022, Czech President Milos Zeman signed a decree on the complete suspension of cooperation from December 31.
We will remind, Zeman in his Christmas address supported aid to Ukraine in its opposition to Russian military aggression.
In addition, the first group of Ukrainian servicemen within the framework of the EUMAM mission of the European Union completed training at the Libava training ground in the Czech Republic.
