Deadly bus crash in Istanbul leaves three dead, 20 injured
A passenger bus traveling from the central Turkish province of Tokat to Tekirdağ in the northwest crashed early in the morning of August 18 in Istanbul’s Sancaktepe district, leaving three people dead and 20 others injured, according to officials.
The accident occurred at around 06:15 local time on the North Marmara Highway near the Paşaköy neighbourhood, when the driver reportedly lost control of the steering wheel and the bus slammed into roadside barriers, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Emergency services, including police, firefighters and medical teams, were dispatched to the scene. The injured passengers were transferred to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Istanbul Governor’s Office confirmed that the bus was carrying 35 passengers at the time of the crash. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
