Deadly gas explosion rocks Armenian town of Chambarak
On the morning of June 11, at approximately 08:34, a fire broke out in an apartment in the town of Chambarak, located in Armenia's Gegharkunik region.
The incident was reported to the Crisis Management Centre of the regional Rescue Department, prompting an immediate emergency response.
According to Armenian media and the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rescue Service, emergency teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, Caliber.Az reports.
Two firefighting and rescue units from the regional Rescue Department, as well as two specialised rescue squads from the Special Rescue Operations Centre of the Rescue Forces Department — including canine teams — were involved in the response.
Initial reports indicate that a gas explosion was the likely cause of the fire. The blast resulted in multiple injuries, and one fatality has been confirmed.
Authorities stated that more detailed information will be released as the investigation continues.
