Denmark: Aalborg Airport temporarily closed amid drone reports
Aalborg Airport in Denmark temporarily closed its airspace on the evening of November 16 due to suspected drone activity. The closure occurred at around 22:10 local time.
Kim Bermann, the airport’s Deputy and Operations Director, said that the decision followed a call from the duty officer reporting “some form of activity that Naviair did not feel comfortable with,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Danish media.
Naviair, which manages the safe flow of air traffic in Danish airspace, confirmed the closure to Ritzau, citing “suspicion of drone activity” as the reason for halting take-offs and landings. No further details about the drone sightings have been released.
A KLM flight from Amsterdam scheduled to land in Aalborg was diverted to Billund Airport. Three additional flights from Copenhagen due to arrive in Aalborg were delayed and remained on the ground.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any drones were actually present near the airport.
