Denmark donates modern equipment to Georgia’s Emergency Management Service PHOTO

20 March 2023 17:39

Georgia’s Emergency Management Service will be able to take advantage of brand-new equipment after the Danish Emergency Management Agency donated hardware to its counterpart.

Water pumps and tanks, chainsaws and other tools will enter the roster of the equipment of the domestic agency, following the handover of hardware worth €500,000 under the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package, Agenda.ge reports.

The donation was aimed at helping the body better respond to forest fires, the Service said on March 20 in its listing of the received tools, adding they would make a “significant contribution” to re-equipment of its professionals.

The handover ceremony was attended by the Deputy Interior Minister Ioseb Chelidze, EMS Head Teimuraz Mgebrishvili and the Danish Ambassador to Georgia, Anne Toft Sørensen.

The officials also inspected the Emergency Situations Response Main Division and the Training Centre of the Department.
