Denmark open to discussing nuclear weapons deployment, says minister
Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has expressed readiness to consider the potential deployment of nuclear weapons on the country’s territory.
In an interview with the Danish newspaper Politiken, Poulsen said he is prepared to examine all available options to strengthen the country’s defence capabilities.
“I am ready to discuss any issues,” he stated, while refraining from outlining specific timelines or conditions under which such a deployment might take place.
The remarks were made in the context of the large-scale military exercise Arctic Edge, currently underway in Greenland. The drills bring together the armed forces of Denmark, Canada, and the United States, and are aimed at strengthening allied coordination and enhancing operational readiness in the Arctic region.
Military analysts suggest that Poulsen’s comments could signal a potential shift in Denmark’s defence posture amid the evolving international security environment.
