Deputies vs Minister: Armenian Interior Ministry torn by internal wars

A conflict has arisen between the Armenian interior minister and the deputy ministers in the Ministry.

"The conflict between the interior minister and the deputy ministers is escalating. Deputy Minister Arpine Sargsyan, appointed in January this year, is slowly taking control of the system. Vahe Ghazaryan has run out of patience, and recently he complained to Pashinyan that the deputies are ‘making troubles for him’. He said that it is impossible to work like this, his deputies have turned his life into hell,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the Yerevan-based newspaper Hraparak.

The law enforcement sources believe that the December 13 arrests from Syunik region [Zangezur] are also based on the conflict between Interior Minister Vahe Ghazaryan and his deputy Arpine Sargsyan, which is gradually escalating into a war.

“Now the deputy minister has decided to go further and involve the head of the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee Sassoun Khachatryan in the fight with Ghazaryan," the publication says.

Earlier, the publication reported that Arpine Sargsian enjoys the support of pro-Westerners and backs them in eliminating Vahe Ghazaryan.
