Deputy FM: Russia–Germany relations have hit rock bottom
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky has said that relations between Moscow and Berlin have deteriorated to what he described as “below the floor”, adding that there are currently no conditions for rebuilding official dialogue with Germany.
Speaking to Russian media, Lyubinsky said intergovernmental communication between Russia and Germany had effectively ceased.
“Our dialogue with Germany is completely non-existent,” he said.
“To say that so-called revanchist statements [by the German authorities] could further worsen it would be an exaggeration, because it can hardly be made any worse — it is already below the floor.”
He added that he saw no “prerequisites” for the re-establishment of any structured diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
