Deputy PM: BRICS offers alternative to EU for Serbia
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin has said that BRICS has become an alternative to the European Union for Serbia because the organization "demands nothing" while offering much in return.
"This organization requires nothing from Serbia, yet it can offer more than we ask for. The EU, on the other hand, demands everything from us, but I'm no longer sure what it offers in return. BRICS is our opportunity and a real alternative," Vulin stated, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
He emphasized that Serbia should explore the potential of BRICS and consider closer cooperation with the member states of the organization.
Vulin announced that he will visit Russia on a working trip from August 12 to 15. During his visit, Vulin emphasized that he will meet with key Russian officials, including Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, and Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov. A meeting with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu, and other security representatives is also anticipated.
BRICS is an acronym for an association of five major emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. BRICS members aim to foster economic growth and development by cooperating on trade, investment, and infrastructure projects. Beyond economic and political goals, BRICS also emphasizes cultural exchange, social development, and shared innovation in various fields.
