Diplomatic source: Iran rules out talks with US amid vessel seizure tensions
Iran will not agree to resume negotiations with the United States following the seizure of one of its commercial vessels and what it describes as Washington’s disregard for prior understandings, RIA Novosti reports, citing an Iranian diplomatic source.
“How can one expect Iran to agree to negotiations amid the absence of any discussion regarding the attack on its commercial vessel, violations of the ceasefire, or the United States’ disregard for its own commitments?” the source told the agency.
The source added that under such circumstances, it is unrealistic to expect the Islamic Republic to consent to talks.
Earlier, Iranian parliament member Ahmad Naderi stated that Tehran would not take part in a second round of negotiations with Washington until the United States lifts its maritime blockade.
