Disneyland Shanghai locks down amid COVID-19 with visitors trapped inside
The Disneyland Shanghai has become the latest high-profile venue to close due to China's strict zero-Covid policy with visitors now trapped inside.
As the BBC reports, people will not be able to leave the theme park until they can present a negative COVID-19 test.
This strict measurement came after 10 cases of COVID-19 infections had been recorded in the megacity Shanghai.
The local authorities further warned that anyone who has visited the park since October 27 must provide three negative test results over three consecutive days or be placed in quarantine.
The BBC recalls that in November 2021 the Disneyland park was already shut down, with 30,000 people then trapped inside after authorities ordered everyone to be tested as part of contact tracing measurement.
China's controversial zero-Covid policy has already seen millions of people repeatedly put in lockdown, sometimes in unusual locations like in this instance.
Since October 24, millions of people are under lockdowns in China as the country of 1.45 billion consistently records more than 1,000 new covid cases a day. The numbers are seen as relatively small outbreaks in other parts of the world, the BBC remarks.
