Dozens evacuated as blaze hits historic Moscow office building

A fire broke out in an administrative building in central Moscow, according to Moscow Agency.

The incident occurred in a historic building on Bolshoy Sukharevsky Lane in the Russian capital. The premises house the Institute for Integrated Territorial Development.

According to the report, around 80 people were evacuated from the building as a precaution.

“The fire was caused by faulty wiring <...>. The blaze started in one of the offices,” the report said.

Journalists reported that the fire spread to the fourth floor, covering an area of approximately 60 square metres. Emergency services that arrived at the scene have since extinguished the flames.
