Dozens of flights delayed at Almaty Airport due to snowfall
Dozens of flights at Almaty International Airport are experiencing delays as the city grapples with its first snowfall of the season.
According to the airport’s online departure and arrival boards, domestic flights from Shymkent, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda, Aktobe, and Semey are affected, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Among international routes, flights from Sharm El-Sheikh, Tashkent, and Delhi have also been delayed, with disruptions ranging from 20 minutes to more than two hours.
Airport authorities confirmed that the delays are due to challenging weather conditions. The city has activated its winter maintenance operations, deploying 918 pieces of machinery and 2,550 staff to manage roads and public areas. All airport services have been placed on heightened alert.
Passengers are advised to check the latest flight schedules on Alaport.com or contact their airline directly before travelling.
