Dozens poisoned by carbon monoxide during engagement ceremony in Türkiye
Dozens of people were affected by carbon monoxide poisoning during an engagement ceremony in Türkiye’s Malatya province, local media reported.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Haber Global, the incident took place at a banquet hall in the Orduzu neighbourhood of the Battalgazi district. During the event, guests began to complain of sudden illness, prompting emergency services to be called to the scene. Medical teams later confirmed that carbon monoxide poisoning was the cause.
Malatya Governor Seddar Yavuz said that 113 people were taken to hospitals for medical treatment. He added that their condition was satisfactory and that some of the affected individuals had already been discharged.
“An investigation into the incident has been launched,” the governor wrote on social media, also wishing those affected a speedy recovery.
