"Dream of millions of women": Russian FM spokesperson hails minister's gesture VIDEO
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov welcomed his North Korean counterpart Choe Son Hui with a large bouquet of red flowers during her official visit to Moscow, prompting Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova to describe the gesture as "the dream of millions of women."
Sharing videos on her Telegram channel, Zakharova showed Lavrov concealing the bouquet behind his back before presenting it to Choe as she entered the Russian Foreign Ministry's Reception House, Caliber.Az reports.
"Here it is – the dream of millions of women: Sergey Lavrov arriving with a bouquet. And who will walk through this door, you'll find out in the next post," Zakharova wrote. She later revealed the recipient, adding: "And here is the person those flowers were meant for – North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui."
The gesture is not without precedent. Lavrov also presented flowers to Choe during her previous visits to Russia in January 2024 and October 2025.
Choe is in Russia on an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. On the eve of her meeting with Lavrov, she held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the meeting, Lavrov said that Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un continue to maintain a relationship built on mutual trust, underscoring the close ties between Moscow and Pyongyang.
