Drone strike damages oil refinery in Russia’s Ufa VIDEO / PHOTO
A unit at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Ufa has caught fire following a drone attack, the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, said.
According to Khabirov, the unit hit by a drone was undergoing repairs and the damage was believed to be minor, ASTRA reports.
“There is a small fire at one of the oil refineries,” he said, adding that the damage was being assessed and the facility could be restored within a couple of days.
Earlier, Khabirov said six drones had attacked the region and that the attack had been repelled.
One drone struck a residential building in Ufa’s Zaton neighbourhood, damaging windows on the upper floors. One Indian national was injured and taken to hospital for medical examination.
Khabirov said the man was in generally good condition and had “got away with a fright”.
OSINT investigators from ASTRA identified the damaged building as 7 Gazi Zagitov Street, about 15km from the industrial area where the refinery is located.
Based on the side of the building that was hit, ASTRA said the drone had probably been travelling towards Ufa’s northern industrial zone, where Bashneft’s oil-processing facilities are located.
