Drone strike hits Russian City: Oil tanks ablaze, explosions reported PHOTO / VIDEO

Two large oil storage tanks caught fire following a drone attack on the Kaleikino pumping station in Almetyevsk, Tatarstan, in the early hours of February 23.

Local sources say each tank holds 50,000 cubic metres of oil, Caliber.Az reports.

The fire broke out around 3:50 a.m. local time, and overnight the blaze at the first tank had spread across roughly 2,900 square metres. Additional drones were reportedly intercepted over the city later in the morning.

Emergency services have yet to bring the fire under control, and residents report hearing further explosions across Almetyevsk. The total area affected by the blaze remains unknown.
