Editor of independent outlets targeted by Russian police
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has officially placed Roman Badanin, the founder and editor-in-chief of Proekt, a non-profit investigative media organisation based in Russia and the news outlet Agentstvo, on its wanted list.
The ministry’s database indicates that Badanin is “wanted under a criminal code article,” though it does not specify the exact provision.

Badanin’s inclusion on the wanted list comes in the context of ongoing governmental measures against independent media in Russia. On July 15, 2021, the Prosecutor General’s Office declared Proekt an undesirable organization within the country. Following this designation, several journalists associated with the outlet, including Badanin, were officially labeled as foreign agents.
