Eight crew stranded after ship runs aground in Türkiye's Sakarya PHOTO
A foreign cargo ship ran aground off the coast of the Karasu district in Türkiye’s Sakarya province after being caught in severe storm conditions, prompting a rescue operation for its crew, according to TRT Haber.
The vessel, carrying eight crew members, reportedly lost control due to strong winds and high waves before being pushed toward the shore and becoming stuck on a sandbank near land.

Following the incident, Turkish Coast Guard units were dispatched to the area. However, ongoing adverse weather and rough sea conditions have complicated efforts to evacuate the crew by sea.
Authorities have therefore requested aerial support, with the possible deployment of a helicopter being considered to carry out the evacuation from the air.
