Eight more linked to “Strong Armenia” party taken for questioning
Detentions of individuals linked to Russian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan’s “Strong Armenia” party are continuing in Armenia, with new arrests reported in the capital, Yerevan.
According to Armenian media cited by Caliber.Az, eight additional supporters of the party have been taken to the Anti-Corruption Committee for questioning. Lawyer Yura Ivanyan said the detainees were transferred to the agency, but authorities have not disclosed the specific allegations against them.
Ivanyan noted that the defence has not been provided with any information regarding the grounds for the detentions.
The latest incident took place in the village of Arbat, located in the Masis community.
The developments come amid an ongoing election campaign, during which the Anti-Corruption Committee has opened several criminal cases related to alleged vote-buying. These cases involve accusations against individuals associated with the “Strong Armenia” party, which is linked to Karapetyan.
