Emirates SkyCargo launches first cargo service to Kazakhstan

Emirates SkyCargo has completed its first cargo flight to Almaty, marking Kazakhstan as the airline’s first cargo destination in Central Asia and strengthening trade links between the region and the United Arab Emirates.

The announcement was made by Asel Zhanasova, Deputy Head of Kazakhstan’s Presidential Administration, who said the new weekly service will offer more than 100 metric tons of cargo capacity. The route is expected to provide new opportunities for Kazakh exporters and support the growth of international trade, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media. 

According to Zhanasova, the launch of the cargo service will also deepen transportation and logistics cooperation between Kazakhstan and Dubai, one of the world’s leading logistics and trade hubs.

The development was discussed during Zhanasova’s recent working visit to the UAE, where she met with Emirates executives. Talks focused on expanding cooperation in aviation, air cargo transportation, and the development of regional logistics corridors.

“I am confident that our joint efforts will contribute to the further strengthening of transportation and logistics ties between Kazakhstan and the UAE,” Zhanasova said.

The new route comes as Kazakhstan seeks to enhance its position as a regional transportation and logistics centre. Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev called for the accelerated modernisation of Almaty International Airport, describing the project as a strategic step toward transforming Kazakhstan into one of Central Asia’s leading aviation hubs.
