Expert: Energy cooperation between Azerbaijan, Armenia could boost trust

14 August 2026 20:31

Energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia could strengthen mutual trust, Giorgi Tumasyan, chairman of the Georgian Armenian Public Platform, has said.

He noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's proposals regarding the supply of electricity to Armenia and the transit of electricity through the country have been positively received, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The expert maintained that energy cooperation could not only strengthen trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia but also make a significant contribution to the development of economic ties.

"Energy cooperation can not only strengthen trust between the countries but also create opportunities for developing economic cooperation. In the modern world, economic cooperation is one of the key factors in establishing good-neighborly relations," he remarked.

According to Tumasyan, amid the crises and risks facing the region, energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia is particularly important.

"There are already positive examples of cooperation in the supply of petroleum products between the sides, and this experience could contribute positively to further deepening relations and developing transit links. Ultimately, this will also lead to an intensification of the transit processes planned within the framework of the TRIPP project," he added.
