Envoy confirms thousands of Israelis in Georgia amid diplomatic coordination

Israeli Ambassador to Georgia, Walid Abu Haya, confirmed that several thousand Israeli citizens are presently in the country and emphasised ongoing coordination with Georgian authorities amid developments.

Amid unfolding events, the ambassador stated that he would like to meet with official representatives of the Georgian government, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.

“There are several thousand Israelis in Georgia now, they like being here. I am sure they are very concerned about what is happening in their homeland, but now the skies over Israel are closed, and when flights resume, we will take care of them, there are Georgian citizens in Israel, and I want them to know that we are not only protecting our citizens but also everyone who is in Israel. 

We are in contact with the Georgian Embassy in Tel Aviv, and they are also in contact with the Israeli Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem. If they need anything, they will receive maximum assistance. In light of the developments, I would like to meet with officials from the Georgian government,” Walid Abu Haya noted.
