Erdogan declares determination to turn 21st century into "Türkiye Century"

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the government is determined to turn the 21st century into the "Türkiye Century".

He made the remarks speaking in the province of Kutahya on August 29, Anadolu reports.

"The change in Türkiye's economic development model, which has relied on production and employment growth, has allowed our country to minimise the impact of the global crisis. Thanks to the measures taken by the government since the beginning of the year, the situation of Turkish citizens will improve," Anadolu quotes the president as saying.

The victory in the battle of Dumlupinar demonstrated to the world that the Turkish people cannot be broken. 

The Turkish leader noted that it was not by chance that he was in Kutakhya. It was here 100 years ago that the historic battle began, which marked the final success of the Turkish people's national liberation struggle.

"Before the start of the large-scale offensive of the Turkish army on August 30, 1922, certain circles made pessimistic forecasts, claiming that it would not be possible to win the fight against the interventionists. Similar statements are being voiced today regarding the Turkish government's plans. However, the whole world eventually witnessed the victory of the determination and faith of the Turkish people," the president said.

The head of state further drew attention to the steps to eliminate the problems that stand in the way of modern Türkiye, including in the fight against terrorism.

"Thanks to the decisive steps of the security structures of our country, we are destroying terrorists step by step," the president said.
