Erdogan expresses confidence in his victory in Turkish presidential election
Türkiye's incumbent leader and candidate for a new presidential term, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said on May 27 that he is confident of winning the second round of the republic's presidential election on May 28.
"Tomorrow we will have a victory that will not be a defeat for anyone. It will be a victory for Türkiye's 85 million people, a victory for democracy," he said, speaking in the Istanbul suburb of Beykoz at the last campaign rally, TASS reports.
Erdogan's opponent in the second round will be opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
On May 19, the Turkish CEC announced the results of the first round, according to which the incumbent president won the support of 49.52 per cent of voters, while his rival - 44.88 per cent. In the final round, the winner will be the candidate with the most votes.
