Erdogan meets Pashinyan in New York to discuss Türkiye-Armenia normalisation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, with the two sides discussing bilateral ties and regional issues.

The meeting was held at Türkevi (Turkish House) and was closed to the press. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan also attended, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

According to Turkish media, the discussions focused on contacts between Ankara and Yerevan, as well as regional and international developments.

Erdogan expressed support for efforts to normalise relations between Türkiye and Armenia, particularly in the areas of bilateral trade and transport. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the positive momentum in Turkish-Armenian relations.

The Turkish president said Türkiye welcomed the reciprocal steps being taken as part of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
